The body is taking shape. You must always be aware of what wood you need where. If you remove it by mistake it is very difficult, if not impossible to replace.  

The eye channel and eye hole have been carved in. Beak detail and the various feather groupings have also been added.

All the relevant wing feather groups have been isolated. Primaries, secondaries, coverts and scapulars. The tail has also been  identified. 

 The pencil lines on the underbody show where wood will be removed and the body then sanded out to create the various humps and bumps. A knowledge of the various feather groups and how they interact and contort is essential.
