The head was attached to the body via a brass rod. This allowed the head to be manipulated into the desired postion. Two part epoxy was then used to hold everything in place.

Wood filler was used to fill the join and this was then blended and sanded smooth.

Once the filler had thoroughly hardened, feather detail was lightly stoned in.  

The underside of the head received the same treatment.

After feather detail was added to the filler the various colours were applied. Again multiple wash coats were used. A little iridescent medium was added to the cobalt blue.
